I always just walk in in full armor and weapons, but factional relations can easily make that a no-go. I know in some cities/castles, the prison guard is completely isolated, which makes him extremely easy to take out and then duck into the dungeon. Others, particularly one Nord city whose name I cannot recall, has two castle guards right next to the prison guard, so if you can’t one-shot the prison guard, then you have to deal with all three, which is exponentially more difficult as they come at you from all angles. I don’t think throwing daggers are going to do you much good at point blank range, though, so the staff is most likely your best bet. If your polearm skill is high enough, it really shouldn’t take too many hits to down the guard, but your main problem should be the rest of the guards bearing down on you after you start your attack.I can’t say I’ve ever experimented with the kick move, though. I forget that even exists any time I sit down to play. It might give you a leg up.
