I'm not suggesting that the CD doesn't have Pre-Emphasis flags in the subcode, I'm saying that I don't think the audio actually has Pre-Emphasis in the mastering. I have Quake version 1.06 and it has Pre-Emphasis flags in the index/cue as well, however later releases of the game have identical audio tracks, while missing the Pre-Emphasis flags, so one of them has to be incorrect.
